Kansas City Spirit Shines Through Unsettled Times

Yes, the economy has performed better in the past. Yes, more people have needs today than a year ago. Yes, fewer people have the funds to meet the needs of others, but somehow, the people of Greater Kansas City have found it within themselves to sustain Kansas City philanthropies in their hour of greatest need.

Such was the message from the 30 professionals gathered for Ingram's annual Philanthropy Industry Outlook on a snowy early December day. The session was co-sponsored by Citigroup and the Kauffman Foundation and hosted by the Kauffman Foundation. Chairing the event were Denny Barnett, manager of Public Affairs for Citigroup, and Munro Richardson, a director of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
